Bristol City release statement after fans caught fighting in stadium

Bristol City FC has said it will take action against fans involved in a fight at a Boxing Day football match.

A video circulated online following the game against Charlton Athletic on Thursday, December 26, which shows an altercation between some of the Bristol City fans in the crowd at The Valley stadium.

It shows one man in particular kicking and throwing punches at those around him - including a child - before being dragged away by security and restrained.

The Met Police have since confirmed the people in the video were known to each other and there were no allegations made to police and no reports of any injuries.

But while the police have confirmed no arrests have been made and the incident had been dealt with at the time, Bristol City FC has now called the behavior of those involved "unacceptable" and promised to take "appropriate action".

A spokesperson from Bristol City FC said: “We are working with the Metropolitan and Avon and Somerset police forces to identify those involved in this unacceptable behaviour and will take appropriate action.

"We have been informed that this incident was not related to the football match and was between parties known to each other.”

It is unclear what that appropriate action will be at this time.
