Bristol City, Reading and Swansea eye Liverpool loan as QPR want striker - Championship rumours

Bristol City and their Championship rivals now have just a couple of days to get their transfer business done.

Clubs in the EFL and the Premier League have until 5pm on Friday to complete their business ahead of the domestic transfer window deadline, with Premier League sides still able to sign players from the second-tier, and vice-versa.

City boss Dean Holden has a settled squad at Ashton Gate and with the Robins currently sitting top of the table, it is unlikely that the Robins will be too busy over the next couple of days.

However, that may not be the case for some of their Championship rivals, with plenty of unresolved business to be done in the closing stages of the window.

Below, we take a look at the latest Championship transfer rumours.

Swansea and Bristol City fighting for Liverpool loanee

Swansea City are among four Championship clubs eyeing a move for Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips before Friday’s domestic transfer deadline, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Phillips is set for another loan spell away from Anfield, having impressed in Stuttgart’s promotion-winning campaign to the Bundesliga, is now set to move closer to home with a likely stint in the Championship.

Swansea, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Reading are all said to be keen on a move for the 23-year-old centre-back.

Spurs open to Carter-Vickers sale

Tottenham are open to offloading Cameron Carter-Vickers permanently amid interest in his services from the Championship, the Athletic states.

The centre-back has attracted the interest of both Bournemouth and Luton Town, having spent time on loan with the latter last season, with the two sides now fighting for his services on a permanent basis.

A United States international, the 22-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season and any fee for his services is likely to be minimal.

Fulham in advanced Kongolo talks

Fulham are in advanced talks to sign Terence Kongolo from Huddersfield Town ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, Football Insider reports.

The Premier League side have been chasing the defender’s signature for the past month and have now reportedly reached a breakthrough, leaving them confident of tying up a deal before the end of the domestic transfer window.

Kongolo is keen on returning to the Premier League, having signed for Huddersfield in 2018 for a fee of £18m.

QPR closing in on striker

Queens Park Rangers are closing in on a deal for 18-year-old Southend United prospect Charlie Kelman, the Echo News reports.

The teenager made a breakthrough at the age of 17 in Southend, scoring from the halfway line against Plymouth Argyle, which led to reports of interest from Premier League outfit Tottenham.

Now, he is set for a move to the capital and is reportedly undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Loftus Road.
