Bristol City player ratings vs Norwich: Tanner and Pring instrumental in gritty victory

Max O'Leary - 8

Obviously playing with plenty of confidence at the minute, especially coming out and commanding his area. Made a good low save to deny Pukki at the near post in the first half. Kicking slightly wayward on occasions but other than that, another solid performance.

George Tanner - 9

A superb header at the back post under pressure from his opponent in the first half. It set the tone for his performance with a really solid and disciplined display with some brave challenges to boot.

Zak Vyner - 7

Barring a small error in the first half when he misread a pass, Vyner was assured once again without being spectacular. Marked Onel Hernandez in the second half and barely gave him a sniff.

Rob Atkinson - 8

So dominant in the air, heading away countless deliveries into the box. Pukki threatened to give him a tough afternoon but he'd met his match in the towering central defender. Made a superb block in the second half.

Cam Pring - 9

Superb challenge on Teemu Pukki in the first half when the striker was racing clear. Played a key role in the opener with a superb assist. Terrific runs forward from deep relieved the pressure on the backline.

Joe Williams - 7

Impressive first-half showing making his first start since the Boxing Day defeat to West Brom. Proved a nuisance in the middle flying into numerous tackles - one of which received a booking after taking down Max Aarons.

Matty James - 7

Another class showing from the experienced midfielder who played as the deepest of the trio. His performance didn't catch the eye but he proved effective in breaking up play and keeping things simple.

Alex Scott (off 81, Weimann) - 7

Marked closely by Sara throughout the game but still showed moments of quality by manoeuvring in tight positions. Certainly playing with more attacking intent with runs into the area. Subbed off with 10 minutes to play.

Sam Bell (off 60, Mehmeti) - 7

Full of energy on the left side of the pitch while his pace and movement created space for Pring to exploit. Gave Max Aarons plenty to think about with those driving runs forward but didn't get an opportunity in front of goal before being placed.

Mark Sykes (off 89, Kalas) - 8

Another goal added to the tally for the in-form winger who slipped the ball under Angus Gunn to open the scoring. Worked incredibly hard, particularly defensively alongside the excellent George Tanner.

Nahki Wells (off 60, Cornick) - 6

Glanced a header over the crossbar in the first half from Mark Sykes' delivery. Dropped deep regularly to help out the defence and pick up the ball. A couple of sloppy passes in his own half but covered so much ground. Looked a little isolated at times.

Substitutes

Harry Cornick (on 60, Wells) - 6

Offered a different threat to Wells on his introduction and should have put the game to bed when his strike was deflected wide of the target.

Anis Mehmeti (on 60, Bell) -

Eager to show what he's all about with some silky passages of play taking on his full-back. He certainly has quick feet and will prove an exciting watch in a City shirt.

Andi Weimann (on 81, Scott) - N/A

Tomas Kalas (on 89, Sykes) - N/A

Subs not used: Haikin, Dasilva, King
