Bristol City player ratings vs Coventry: King rolls back the years as Bentley comes to the fore

Dan Bentley - 8

Had nothing to do in the first half. Called into action to save low from Palmer in the second. Was beaten when Godden's header was deflected onto the bar. A brilliant save on Gyokeres on the hour mark to keep the sides level. It was a big moment in the contest.

Zak Vyner - 8

Made a superb last-ditch tackle on Godden at the beginning of the second half. Another solid performance up against two physical forwards. Didn't put a foot wrong.

Kal Naismith (off 41, Williams) - 6

Redeemed himself after his mistake almost proved costly early on as the dangerous Gyokeres broke into the box. Made a superb tackle against the forward on the edge of the box. Looked assured after the early scare. Forced off injured before half-time.

Rob Atkinson - 7

Booked for bringing down Matty Godden in the 11th minute so had to walk a tightrope. Gyokeres got in behind him once or twice but Bentley came to his rescue. A great overlap that almost led to an opener. Important block on Gyokereswith eight minutes remaining.

Mark Sykes - 6

Perhaps fortunate to keep his place and improved on Saturday's performance. Wasted a couple of good crosses but a lot more assured from a defensive perspective. Could have offered more going forward.

Jay Dasilva - 7

Got into some good crossing positions and had the beating of Fankaty Dabo down his side. City looked the most likely to score down his side. A tireless performance up and down that flank.

Andy King - 8

Very good in the first half playing as the deepest midfielder. Good in possession and smart in the tackle. Dropped into the back three when Naismith went off injured. Let off from a rare error in the second half.

Han-Noah Massengo - 7

Almost grabbed his first City goal when his early effort flashed past the post. Had a lot of the ball in the first half but guilty of taking too long to play it on occasion. Lost a couple of important tackles in the middle that allowed Coventry to break. Showed initiative to get forward just lacked quality with his final ball.

Andi Weimann - 6

Relatively quiet opening 45 minutes and seemed to have some discomfort with his left knee. Doubts over his fitness following the international break. Saw more of the ball in the second half but poor with his crosses. Somehow kept out Godden's header although could have been with his hand on the goalline.

Antoine Semenyo (off 76, Conway) - 7

Came closest to breaking the deadlock on 30 minutes when his strike on the angle was saved well by the legs of Ben Wilson. City's most dangerous player with his driving runs to the byline. Tired in the second half before being replaced.

Nahki Wells - 6

Gave the ball away a couple of times in the first half and was marked very closely. Produced a great cross that almost saw Semenyo break the deadlock. Only sniff of goal he had was an overhead kick that the keeper turned over the bar.

Substitutes

Joe Williams (on 41, Naismith) - 6

Initially sloppy in possession but improved as the game went on. Frustrated with a couple of overhit crosses but effective in lessening Palmer's influence.

Tommy Conway (on 76, Semenyo) - 6

Almost scored with his first touch with a glancing header albeit was straight at the keeper.

Subs not used: O'Leary, Pring, Kadji, Tanner, Martin
