Bristol City player ratings vs Burnley: Two players standout as dogged display ends in defeat

Dan Bentley - 6

Perhaps should have done better for the opener having been beaten at the near post. Made a brave punch from a corner. Had no chance with the second and did everything else expected of him. Made a good stop to deny Zaroury scoring a third.

Zak Vyner - 7

Really positive display by Vyner who was up against a tricky customer in Tella. Isolated early on but won his fair share of defensive headers from corners and can leave Turf Moor with his head held high.

Kal Naismith - 6

Lack of communication with Atkinson for Burnley's opener - the two defenders too far apart. Showed what he's capable of with a superb delivery for the equaliser. More composed on the ball and a good response to Wednesday.

Rob Atkinson (off 79, Martin) - 6

Question marks over his positioning for Burnley's opener. Could have got across to close down Benson. Needed 30 minutes to settle but grew into the game. A bursting run forward tested the keeper.

Mark Sykes - 6

Similar to Dasilva, found it tough in the opening stages against Tella but gave Vyner better protection later in the first half. Almost assisted Wells with a cross from deep.

Jay Dasilva - 6

Was wary about committing going forward because of the quality of Manuel Benson who gleefully exploited the space behind in the first 20 minutes. Could have done more to stop the cross for the second.

Matty James (off 77, Massengo) - 6

Really difficult first 30 minutes with too much space for Jay Rodriguez between the midfield and defence. Improved after that but lack of mobility was evident with Burnley moving the ball around the middle of the park.

Alex Scott (off 45, Williams) - 6

Deservedly booked for a late lunge on Jack Cork in the first half. Was in the wars in the first 45 minutes in a really combative performance. Taken off at half-time, probably as he was on a booking.

Andi Weimann - 6

A really disciplined before by the Austrian who sat in a flat midfield three. Looked to burst forward when he could and contributed to Conway's big chance. Looked tired in the final 15 minutes but never stopped running.

Nahki Wells - 8

Did superbly to win the corner and was rewarded for his efforts when he buried the delivery from close range. Ran the channels really well and caused a nuisance of himself. Had a great glancing header well saved.

Tommy Conway (off 45, Semenyo) - 6

Could have put City ahead on the stroke of half-time when he clattered into the keeper. Full of running and could have assisted Wells but was forced to chase the ball for large periods.

Substitutes

Antoine Semenyo (on 45, Conway) - 6

Had a sniff of goal with 15 minutes to play but fired it over the bar. Found it difficult to have an influence in attack.

Joe Williams (on 45, Scott) - 7

Had a great opportunity on the volley that was well saved minutes after Burnley's second goal. Made a great interception inside his own box to deny a third.

Han-Noah Massengo (on 77, James) - N/A

Chris Martin (on 79, Atkinson) - N/A

Subs not used: O'Leary, King, Tanner, Martin
