Bristol City player ratings vs Blackburn: Robins superb in all areas but two stars unplayable

Dan Bentley - 7

Didn't do much wrong all game and didn't have an awful lot to do. Had no chance with Blackburn's goals and will be frustrated not to have kept a clean sheet. Made the saves that he needed to stop.

Zak Vyner - 8

Faced a tough test up against Brereton Diaz who looked to exploit that space between him and Sykes. Didn't put a foot wrong. Growing in confidence.

Kal Naismith - 8

A great covering tackle to deny Brereton Diaz. Deliveries from corners caused all sorts of problems in the Blackburn backline. Authoritative and never appeared troubled by Blackburn's front three. Superb header that cannoned off the inside of the post before Wells' goal.

Rob Atkinson - 7

Almost made to pay for one error when he lost possession in the first half. Dangerous from deliveries in both boxes. Covered Dasilva well when the wing-back pushed forward.

Mark Sykes - 8

Another performance to show why he is keeping Kane Wilson on the bench. Worked so hard out on the right. Dropped deeper in the second half but another excellent showing.

Jay Dasilva - 8

Picked out a great ball for Wells who couldn't open the scoring. Looks to be growing in confidence when going forward, highlighted by a superb piece of skill to skip past his man. Brilliantly defensively.

Matty James - 8

Excellent in the first 45 minutes, overshadowed by Scott's performance. Experience came to the fore against Rovers' inexperienced midfield. Rovers had no joy in the middle of the park and made numerous brilliantly timed tackles. An unsung hero and calming influence.

Alex Scott (off 90, Massengo) - 9

What a player. Absolutely ran the show in the first half and set off Weimann which contributed to the first goal. Played a similar role in the second by finding Weimann before Wells' goal. A brilliant performance.

Andi Weimann - 8

Missed a sitter in the opening 20 minutes, failing to turn in Atkinson's cross. Played a brilliant cross to find Conway that opened the scoring. Had some much space to dictate City's attack. Another superb assist for Wells - a pass threaded through the eye of a needle. Performance just lacked a goal.

Nahki Wells (off 83, Williams) - 9

Had two great chances to score in the first half. One that he missed at the back post and another that hit the keeper's legs. Finally grabbed his goal and showed great composure to pick his spot and add a crucial second. Bagged his second of the afternoon immediately after Blackburn got back into the game.

Tommy Conway (off 63, Semenyo) - 8

Gave the ball away a handful of times early on but it was all forgotten when he headed City in front at the back post. His movement caused all sorts of problems again before being subbed off for Semenyo. Was disappointed to be taken off.

Substitutes

Antoine Semenyo (on 63, Conway) - 6

Will feel aggrieved he didn't win a free-kick which allowed Rovers to get back into the game, albeit briefly.

Joe Williams (on 83, Wells) - N/A

Han-Noah Massengo (on 90, Scott) - N/A

Subs not used: O'Leary, Wilson, Martin, King
