Bristol City next manager odds: Paul Cook remains favourite as Dean Holden odds cut

It's now been over four weeks since Lee Johnson was relieved from his duties as Bristol City manager and the club are getting closer and closer to appointing a successor.

It's been an extremely thorough process and the Robins board are desperate to get this appointment right, with the aims of Premier League football still firmly in their sight.

So far, Bristol Live understands that Chris Hughton, Paul Cook and Dean Holden have all been interviewed for the role and are on the shortlist, however there are other unknown names also being considered by the likes of Mark Ashton and Steve Lansdown.

There is no telling exactly when an appointment will be made, however the second round of interviews is expected to kick off imminently and a new man could be at the helm in the next few days.

Paul Cook is reportedly set to resign as Wigan Athletic boss after their relegation from the Championship and will be on the look out for another job.

He had also been linked with the vacant Birmingham City job, however that looks as if it will be filled by Aitor Karanka.

Dean Holden impressed the City board during his five games in charge at the end of the season and is being considered, while Hughton remains the popular choice among fans.

It is understood that he is interested in the role, however reports this week suggested that he has also taken a liking to the vacant Watford job and could be keen on taking the Hornets back to the Premier League.

After betting markets were suspended recently, they have now opened back again with Cook the favourite followed by Hughton and Holden.

Several big names linked early on, such as Steven Gerrard and John Terry, have no fallen away. See the latest odds below.
