Bristol City next manager odds: Dean Holden the new favourite ahead of Cook and Hughton

It's now exactly a month since Lee Johnson was sacked following the 1-0 loss to Cardiff City and the Robins look ever closer to naming a new manager.

Following weeks of fielding applicants, creating a shortlist and conducting interviews, one man will be picked to lead the Robins for the coming season as they look to push for a promotion to the Premier League.

Mark Ashton and Steve Lansdown are desperate to get this choice right, seeing it is one of the biggest decisions they have had to make at the club during their time on BS3.

The bookies odds have fluctuated massively over the past few days, with Paul Cook, Chris Hughton, Alex Neil and Dean Holden all taking turns to sit at the top of the betting list and today it's the turn of Holden, whose odds were slashed on Monday night.

The Robins coach had been as low as 16/1 on the weekend but is now the clear favourite to take over from Lee Johnson and be the man to lead the Robins for the coming season.

Holden was cut to as low as 1/2 on Monday night but now sits at 8/13 with Sky Bet, way ahead of the other candidates who have all seen their odds lengthened overnight.

Paul Cook, Chris Hughton and Alex Neil now sit further afield, with Cook the closest to Holden on 7/4 and Hughton and Neil both drifting.

Cook, Hughton and Holden have all been interviewed for the role and are on the shortlist, while Alex Neil's inclusion as a favourite in the week somewhat came as a surprise, however a decision is now surely close with big decisions needing to be made at Ashton Gate on transfers and the future of out of contract players.
