Bristol City next manager: How the odds have changed from Tony Pulis to Chris Hughton

With Bristol City now in their 11th day of looking for a new manager, the odds on the favourite have been chopped and changed several times since Lee Johnson's departure.

From early favourite Tony Pulis to current favourite Chris Hughton, several big names have been linked to the vacancy and the club are currently in the process of deciding who the next man to take the club forward is.

Hughton is by far the fans choice to take over, with the likes of Steven Gerrard, John Terry, Ryan Lowe and Michael Flynn having moved up and down the bookies' list of potential new managers.

However, at the start of the betting on June 4 Hughton was much further down the list and has had his odds shortened every few days.

The former Brighton boss is understood to be interested in taking up the role and currently stands at 8/11 to take the helm at Ashton Gate.

But at the start of the process, Hughton sat at 8/1 and was seen as an outsider. He sat below the likes of newly promoted Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth and Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. However it only took the end of the day of Lee Johnson's sacking for him to be the favourite at 6/4.

According to Oddschecker, in the last week, 51 per cent of all bets have backed Hughton. Over the last 24 hours, 72 per cent of all bets have backed the 61-year-old.

Currently second in the betting list is Steven Gerrard on 11/4, with the current Rangers boss and Liverpool legend having been non-existent in the betting at the beginning.

However, he slowly crept up the list and recently had his odds cut from 12/1, to 8/1 and is now at 11/4 with SkyBet.

Plymouth manager Ryan Lowe started the odds at 14/1 on the day of the sacking before he surged to evens a couple of days later, according Oddschecker, but now sits below Hughton and Gerrard as the third favourite.

The earliest favourite for the role with Sack Race was Tony Pulis, but the former West Brom and Stoke manager is now much further down the list at 25/1 with SkyBet. See the full list of favourites and how their odds have changed below.
