Bristol City monitoring Motherwell and Scotland U21 striker - reports

Bristol City are monitoring young Motherwell striker James Scott, according to recent reports.

The 19-year old has scored seven goals in 30 appearances in all competitions this season, and Robins boss Lee Johnson is thought to be interested in a move for the young forward.

Scott, who made his first Scotland U21 appearance in August, broke into the Motherwell side this season and has impressed boss Steve Robinson.

According to the Daily Record, the deal hangs on whether Johnson is willing to meet Motherwell's valuation.

City have reportedly been monitoring the forward for the past year, but interest has stepped up in the past six weeks.

Scott still has two years left on his contract with the Steelmen, and despite Johnson wanting to add firepower to the starting XI, he could be tempted by the youngster.

The Daily Record report that Motherwell never stand in the way of their top talents, but any deal need to include future add ons.

It's not the first time City have been linked with strikers in the Scottish Premiership. The Robins have also previously been linked with Livingston forward Lyndon Dykes, who has recently commented on his future .

They have also been one of a number of clubs, including QPR and Wigan, linked with Hearts forward Uche Ikpeazu.

It is well documented that City are looking to bolster their attacking line, with CEO Mark Ashton previously saying that it doesn't take the 'brain of bishop' to work out that the Robins need a number ine.

Bristol Live understands that City are targeting two strikers in the January transfer window. So far, Lee Johnson's side have been linked with the likes of Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah, Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham and Slovan Bratislava's Andraz Sporar.

With young forward Antoine Semenyo likely to leave Ashton Gate on loan, and Spanish striker Rodri coming to the end of his contract, City will have the room to bring in more reinforcements to challenge the likes of Famara Diedhiou and Andi Weimann.
