Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill opens up on missing Marlon Pack after move to Cardiff City

Josh Brownhill feels Bristol City have missed Marlon Pack this season, but have also replaced him well.

Robins legend Pack departed Ashton Gate for rivals Cardiff City in August, ending a six-year stint at the club which saw him make 244 league appearances.

He was particularly close to Brownhill in midfield and, speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, the 23-year-old says Pack has had a big impact on his captaincy of the Robins so far this season.

He said: "I was very close friends with Marlon and I felt when he went it was a big loss as he's a good player.

"For me I was quite surprised but it's Marlon's decision and, what goes on behind the doors, it's up to him.

"He's a good player, last season he was excellent and the year before, and I think he's been a big role model for me, being at the club since the age of 20.

"He was captain for a number of games, so I've learned a lot from him.

"Having the captain's arm band for now, I've tried to take on parts of him, Bailey Wright and Korey Smith when he's been captain as well.

"I feel like we've missed Marlon a lot but I feel like we've replaced very well.

"Nagy's been excellent, it's a shame he's been injured, and Han-Noah Massengo has been a breath of fresh air."
