Bristol City loan report: How Joe Morrell, Max O'Leary, Jamie Paterson and more performed at the weekend

A number of Bristol City loanees were back in action at the weekend for their new clubs.

It was something of a disappointing weekend for Jamie Paterson and Zak Vyner, but a good one for Joe Morell.

Meanwhile, the club's on-loan goalkeepers also put in strong showings.

Here's how the Robins' loan army got on.

Jamie Paterson (Derby County, Championship)

Paterson was disappointingly left on the bench as Derby drew 2-2 at Stoke City.

It's an interesting decision from Phillip Cocu considering the 27-year-old will be ineligible for the visit of Bristol City on Tuesday.

Zak Vyner (Aberdeen, Scottish Premiership)

Vyner was only given one minute as the Dons held on to beat Dundee in the Scottish League Cup after extra time.

The City man came on in the 119th minute to shore up the defence in the 2-1 win.

Joe Morrell (Lincoln City, League One)

Morrell started as Lincoln City continued their unbelievable start to life in League One with a 4-0 victory against Southend United.

The Robins youngster racked up 53 passes in midfield, with 83 per cent pass accuracy. He created two chances and made three successful dribbles.

He's been key to the Shrimpers' new passing style.

Max O'Leary (Shrewsbury Town, League One)

O'Leary was impressive between the sticks and picked up his second clean sheet in a row as the Shrews drew 0-0 with Rochdale.

He made two saves in quick succession midway through the second half as Callum Camps and Stephen Dooley were denied.

Cameron Pring and Rory Holden (Walsall, League Two)

While Holden was left out, Pring started again on the left side of midfield but was powerless to prevent a 1-0 defeat.

George Nurse (Newport County, League Two)

Nurse was left on the bench as Newport beat Pymouth Argyle 1-0.

James Morton and Jojo Wollacott (Forest Green Rovers, League Two)

Wollacott kept a debut clean sheet in a 1-0 win for Forest Green Rovers having been brought into the league side having impressed in the League Cup in midfield.

James Morton was an unused substitute.
