Bristol City linked with PSG winger but will have to see off Nottingham Forest and Birmingham

Bristol City have been reported as being one of the sides hoping to capture attacking midfielder Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe, who may be allowed to depart current side Paris saint-Germain in the coming days.

Dina Ebimbe is unlikely to gain a squad place in Mauricio Pochettino's Ligue 1 squad, with Les Parisiens recently adding Gini Wijnaldum to a glittering away of stellar talents that includes Euro 2020 winner Marco Verratti and former Premier League stars Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye.

Dina Ebimbe has plenty of options however, as he considers a move away from the Parc des Princes, most likely on loan.

French media outlet Foot Mercato report that along with the Robins , Lens, Saint-Etienne, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest and Hoffenheim are all chasing the predominantly winger who can also play centrally.

The Paris-born 6ft box-to-box man would offer an athletic ability in the middle of the pitch that might entice manager Nigel Pearson into bidding for the player or attempting to loan the former France U21 international in.

A temporary spell at Dijon last year ended in relegation to Ligue 2 but has sparked interest and paved the way to another move elsewhere. Time was also spent at Le Havre in 2019/20 as well, as the midfielder netted three times at the Stade Oceane in the league.

Bristol City fans may not want to get too excited on this one just yet, however, with several other clubs also in the race for the talent's signature, though they do have previous experience of shopping in the French tiers.

Ashton Gate is currently rather full with midfielders and though another wide player may be needed in BS3 eventually. Pearson has shown an inclination to play Andi Weimann and Nahki Wells there so far in his tenure at the helm of the Robins.

City also are short of money due to the effects of the pandemic and the manager recently admitted that for anyone to come in the club must sell first.

"The situation regarding anyone else coming in is that the financial climate that we're working in is quite a tough one," said Pearson recently. "My priority was to get players in that we've brought in already.

"I only want to add players who are going to make us better. So if we can't add a player who is going to make us better and that's going to be expensive, the reality is that we're probably going to have to sell before we buy," he added.

The Robins have several young midfielders on the books such as Tyreeq Bakinson, James Morton, Sam Pearson, Alex Scott and Ayman Benarous, though arguably Callum O'Dowda is the club's only natural wide player.
