Bristol City linked with £1.9m Everton left-back also wanted by Wigan Athletic and Brentford - reports

Bristol City have been linked with a move for Everton left-back Antonee Robinson.

The Sun's Alan Nixon posted the news on Twitter , revealing that there were enough clubs interested in the player that it could spark an auction.

Wigan Athletic have long been linked with the 21-year-old after he spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

Indeed, on Thursday, Football Insider reported that the Latics had put in a £1.9m bid for the player, who came through the Toffees' youth system and has also spent time on loan at Bolton Wanderers.

Yet with interest from the Robins and also Brentford, the asking price for the player could well increase.

Robinson is unlikely to be at Goodison Park next season following the news that Leighton Baines is remaining at Everton - although it is unclear whether the young full-back will depart on another loan deal or a permanent transfer.

The Toffees are trying to cut their wage bill this summer, so could well look to move Robinson on - and it appears that the trio of Championship clubs fancy their chances of signing him on a permanent basis.

Milton Keynes-born Robinson is eligible to play for the USA through his American father, and has so far won seven international caps for the Stars and Stripes.

He would not be the first player the Robins have signed from Everton in recent times, with Liam Walsh joining in January 2018.

The Robins are keen to bring in two left-backs this summer following the departure of Lloyd Kelly to Bournemouth for a club record fee and the end of Jay Dasilva's loan spell from Chelsea.

Dasilva is still in talks with City and the club remain optimistic of signing him - the interest in Robinson is not thought to impact the Dasilva deal.

An update on the future of Dasilva is expected at some point in the near future following England under-21s' exit from the European Championship.

In an exclusive interview with Bristol Live, Dasilva revealed he would wait until the tournament was over before deciding on his future.

However, should City only be able to secure one of their targets, then 21-year-old Cameron Pring would still offer a promising back-up option at left-back.
