Bristol City legend helps man complete 41-year-old sticker album along with Newcastle United badge

A football-mad dad has finally completed a sticker album after 41 years of trying, with the help of Bristol City legend Chris Garland.

Garland, who played over 200 times for the Robins in two separate appearances, was one of 11 stickers missing from John Moore's 1979 Panini album.

As an 11-year-old boy, Moore was desperate to get all 594 stickers in order to complete his album but fell agonisingly short of the target.

He recently rediscovered the project, and his daughter Lauren took it upon herself to complete the task - including finding the missing sticker of former Robins forward Garland.

Moore said to the Mirror: "I can’t believe it’s full now. I was most pleased that Lauren found the team badges – Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Morton.

"They are a bit different to the regular player cards and they were quite a big thing to be missing. I struggled to find them when I was younger and kids wouldn’t swap them with me in school.

"I’m so pleased now it’s complete."

He added: "When I was at school, I remember other boys used to walk around with huge stacks with an elastic band round them.

"At playtime we would be sharing them

"It’s nice people have still held on to them and they’re in good condition, too."

Lauren, 22, spent just under £30 buying the 11 remaining stickers, which were originally priced at 1p each.

She said: "I spent every night after work searching the internet hoping to find all these separate ones.

"Some were easy to find on eBay but others were a lot harder to find. I had to have a bit of a fight over the Crystal Palace team badge, there was a bidding war over that one."
