Bristol City legend explains the club is being meticulous in search for new head coach

Head of player loans Brian Tinnion has given his views on Bristol City's search for a new head coach.

The Robins have now reached the three-week point since Lee Johnson was removed from the post - and Chris Hughton is heavily tipped to take over in BS3.

Interviews are currently taking place but it is not a given that the former Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Norwich City manager will be appointed, with plenty of other candidates in the race too.

And former City midfielder Tinnion, who scored so memorably at Anfield and now holds a key place in the academy, was asked about the Robins' search for their new boss.

"I'm sure the Lansdown family and Mark Ashton will do their utmost to get the right person," he told a special - and brilliant - interview with the Robins On Tour social media account.

"Obviously everybody wants us to get into the top six and whoever that is, we just keep our fingers crossed that the next person is that person.

"We're all on edge and waiting for that person to be announced. And I'm sure that everything is being done meticulously to make sure it's the right person. That's the key for the football club and everyone."

Expanding on whether experience is needed in the position of head coach, Tinnion was evasive.

He did explain that he had a good relationship with Lee Johnson previously however.

"Everybody wants us to take the next step, " said Tinnion, who made 458 league appearances for the West Country team.

"Everyone working at the football club there is working really hard. We've built some great foundations over the last four or five years.

"I really enjoyed working with Lee. We worked really good with each other and we had a lot of respect for each other and it's the next era of the football club.

"Hopefully we can get the right person and we'll kick on," he said.

'Tinns' also tipped Cam Pring to make a breakthrough in the left-back position next season at City.
