Bristol City join Barnsley, Sheffield United, Everton and Bournemouth monitoring Motherwell striker - report

Bristol City have been credited with an interest in Motherwell forward James Scott.

The Scotland U21 striker has hit three goals in five League Cup games for the Steelmen this term and is developing nicely after breaking through two seasons ago following making 12 Scottish Premiership appearances last season.

The Robins are said to have scouted the 6ft 2in forward in recent weeks and join a host of other sides in watching the player.

Everton, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Barnsley, Southampton and Sheffield United are also scouting the youngster, according to a TeamTalk report.

Motherwell already have David Turnbull on their books, who Bristol City were linked with in the summer and it could be that the Robins have caught sight of Scott while watching the midfielder who was also coveted by Celtic in the summer.

Stephen Robinson's Well side have scored eleven goals in five games so far, the most out of any side outside the Old Firm in the SPFL and Scott is part of that attacking threat.

Motherwell have only lost to Celtic so far this campaign, and Scott appears to be another gem to have come through from the club's academy ranks with the squad featuring several other gifted Scotland U21 players, with Turnbull, Scott, Barry Maguire and Allan Campbell having featured for Scot Gemmill's outfit.

Bristol City are the current equal top scorers in the Championship after seven rounds of matches, but that might not stop them looking at further young talent to bolster their forward options in the future.

Both Motherwell (against Hearts, 2-3 with Scott starting) and City won at the weekend and are doing well in their respective divisions, and it remains to be seen if any mooted interest materialises into firm bids.
