'Bristol City in a nutshell' - Robins fans react to disappointing defeat by Millwall

Just why are Bristol City so potent away from home but struggle to break teams down at BS3? And why do they tend to show up against the Championship's better teams but often underperform to the league's lower-placed teams?

Those two questions continue to govern Lee Johnson's Bristol City as, having won 2-1 at Fulham with a truly fantastic 90-minute performance they were distinctly second best three days later against a Millwall outfit who have been battling relegation fears.

In truth, the Lions are far better than the team positioned down the lower reaches of the table up across the start of the campaign and their 2-1 victory at Ashton Gate extended their unbeaten run to six games and moved them into 12th.

However, it was a match where the Robins didn't just lose in familiar circumstances but also failed to get anywhere near the performance levels at Craven Cottage.

Passes went astray, there was a flat atmosphere and a lack of energy in their play and it took until Callum O'Dowda's strike in the final 10 minutes for the hosts to truly get going abnd put Millwall under any sustained pressure.

City may have won their previous home game against Huddersfield 5-2 but the overwhelming feeling is that they are a totally different beast on their own patch and dropped points against Millwall, Middlesbrough, Wigan and Swansea will haunt them come the end of the season.

That was the consensus opinion across social media as Robins fans felt an eerie sense of deja vu following the defeat ...
