Bristol City hopes fade as Leeds United drop to second and Nottingham Forest strengthen - how the table should stand

The coronavirus has put the brakes on what was shaping up to be an exciting end to the season.

Bristol City were well in the hunt for a play-off spot, whilst Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion looked set for automatic promotion.

Yet all that came to a halt over a month ago when the EFL opted to postpone the campaign due to the coronavirus outbreak.

It has meant teams are unsure when the season will be completed - or if it will be finished at all.

Yet Stoke on Trent Live report that the famous Pools Panel have continued to predict results of matches that have been postponed.

The Saturday afternoon institution, which sees a panel of experts predict different results in the division, has continued to operate.

They have assessed virtually every Premier League, EFL and international game that should have gone ahead in the last month - which has given an indication into how the Championship would have looked ahead of the Easter Weekend.

Bristol City had games against Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City postponed ahead of the Easter Weekend.

The Pools Panel predicted the Robins to pick up just five points from these matches, which would have seen them slip to five points off the play-off places.

Millwall would have been the biggest winners from the postponed games, surging into fifth place.

Leeds United would have dropped to second in the table behind West Bromwich Albion, whilst Fulham and Nottingham Forest would have strengthened their claims for a play-off spot.

If these results had happened, it would have given City plenty of ground to make up in the final run-in, although it would also have set up an exciting end to the season.

At the other end of the table, Barnsley would be all but relegated, whilst Luton Town, Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town would likely battle it out to avoid the two remaining spots in the drop zone.
