Bristol City handed significant transfer boost with Chelsea loan trio not in Blues' plans - report

Bristol City have been handed a potential transfer boost after it was revealed which loan players Chelsea reportedly intend to keep at Stamford Bridge next season.

The Premier League club had a staggering 41 players out on loan last season, including Jay Dasilva, Tomas Kalas and Kasey Palmer at Ashton Gate.

Lee Johnson has previously said he wants to keep hold of all three of those players and that desire could become a reality with none of the trio said to be in Maurizio Sarri's plans for 2019/20.

With the looming threat of a transfer ban, Chelsea plan to include just two or three of their 40 loan players in the first team setup for the upcoming campaign - and the trio City covet are not among them according to the Evening Standard.

The London paper reports that Kurt Zouma, Tammy Abraham and Ola Aina in pole position to take those places in Sarri's squad.

That means the futures of Jay Dasilva, Kasey Palmer and Tomas Kalas are up in the air once again, with the latter said to be keen on a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw at Hull City on the final day of the season, Lee Johnson said: "Yes, I would like to keep all three players.

"I think Tomas Kalas has been fantastic and I've enjoyed working with him and he has taken us to another level in terms of his quality.

"And Jay Dasilva is a real bright prospect and obviously a small player.

"Not everybody will take a 5ft4 left-back, but seeing as his manager is the same size that helps him feel better about himself.

"Then it comes to Kasey Palmer, but listen his quality is there for all to see: but it must be caveated that he needs a full pre-season under me.

"I don't think he's been fit enough throughout this second half of the season."

The news also means there are question marks over what is next for other Chelsea players who have enjoyed successful loan spells, including Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Michy Batshuayi, Kenneth Omeruo and Tiemoué Bakayoko.

While Johnson may want to keep hold of the trio, he is likely to face stern competition.

Although he is said to be keen on a return to Ashton Gate, Jay Dasilva is believed to have plenty of suitors.

Meanwhile, other Championship clubs and maybe lower Premier League sides will inevitably be interested in Kalas and Palmer.
