Bristol City grab Benik Afobe on loan from Stoke City as Marlon Pack leaves for Cardiff City

Bristol City made two significant late moves as their 2019/20 summer transfer window ended with a bang.

The Robins finally found success when they managed to secure the loan signing of Benik Afobe from Stoke City in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old is expected to be announced imminently as Lee Johnson's side finally grab a striker with Championship experience.

Only last January Afobe joined the Potters for a fee believed to be around £12m, with the former Bournemouth man netting eight times in 45 appearances last season.

Afobe has Premier League experience and has moved for fees totalling more than £30m in total.

However City fans enjoying the news will have mixed feelings as they hear that the club's longest serving player Marlon Pack is in the verge of joining the Bluebirds this evening.

We understand that Pack was having a medical over in the Welsh capital as the Robins shake up their midfield options, with - according to our sources - a fee of around £750k agreed.

Johnson promised to be bold this summer and arguably he has been as he dispenses with the club's on-field captain right at the end of the window.

With Pack departing the club, that leaves Korey Smith as the final remaining player from the 2014-15 double winning side.

Meanwhile, top target Eddie Nketiah was confirmed as joining Leeds United on deadline day, while we understand that a proposed move to take Matty Taylor to Charlton fell through.

The Robins are expected to announce the official moves for Pack and Afobe imminently.

Hungarian defensive midfielder Adam Nagy was confirmed as joining the club by Bristol City earlier in the day.
