Bristol City give injury update on Tomas Kalas ahead of Millwall

Bristol City will assess Tomas Kalas this morning ahead of their game against Millwall tonight.

The defender has managed just seven appearances for the Robins since making his loan permanent in the summer, having been hit with injuries this season.

He came close to fitness for the Robins' win over Fulham at the weekend, and assistant manager Dean Holden says they will assess him this morning before deciding whether he can feature tonight.

"He's getting closer," Holden said at yesterday's press call.

"The gaffer said he was 50/50 for Fulham. But these games so close, one after the other, it's difficult to know exactly where everyone is because there's still a few knocks and niggles from the Fulham game.

"We probably won't know until tomorrow morning and we'll wake up and see how we're at with the squad."

The Robins are gradually having their squad return to fitness, however, and Holden says this is the perfect time for that to happen.

He said: "If you could time it for the Christmas period in front of us, that's exactly how you'd want it. A lot of credit goes to everyone behind the scenes because there's a lot of work goes into that.

"We're looking really strong, it's a great position to be in. People are pushing for places, pushing each other in training. It's key, especially when you're going through a decent spell like we are at the moment.

"Making sure that those players that are not in the eleven are making sure that they are pushing the ones that have got the shirt, that's what we want."
