Bristol City favourite Mark Little spoke with Matty Taylor after signing for Bristol Rovers

Former Bristol City defender Mark Little says he has had a laugh and a joke with Matty Taylor over signing for Bristol Rovers.

Taylor infamously moved from Rovers to fierce rivals City in January 2017 in a move that prompted ire from Gasheads, and he sat next to full-back Little in the Robins' dressing room.

Little made 88 league appearances for City, helping them win promotion to League One and scoring in the final of their 2015 EFL Trophy victory, and his switch to the Memorial Stadium came via a two-season stint at Bolton Wanderers.

The 30-year-old revealed that, whilst he had received some good-natured ribbing from some City fans, he has had nothing compared to what Taylor went through.

He said: "I was sat next to him in the dressing room at City and he told me what was going on, he had a lot of stick, the lad did.

"I actually saw him last weekend at a charity event and we had a little laugh and a joke about it, but, quite honestly, I've had a really good response.

"I've had nothing serious or anything that I need to worry about and, speaking to Matt, he said he had a lot of stick for a couple of months but then it soon gets forgotten.

"Hopefully that's the case once I start playing well for Rovers, that won't be a factor - fingers crossed, anyway."

Having got City into the Championship before, Little says his aim is to now do the same with Rovers.

He said: "There's a rivalry but, for me, it's Bristol as a whole and I want to get Rovers into the Championship.

"I've done it once with City, why can't we do it with Rovers? That's what I've come here to do and if I can help that happen, I can't see why there's going to be any complaints.

"So no pressure, I've just got to do really well!"

One thing that convinced Little to make the move was his love of Bristol as a city.

He said: "I love Bristol, full stop. It's awesome.

"I've lived in the midlands, up north, east... everywhere! But this has always been our favourite place and this is why it was a big pull to come back."
