Bristol City fans have their say after Nottingham Forest appoint Chris Hughton

Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Sabri Lamouchi, replacing him with Chris Hughton.

Former Brighton and Newcastle United boss Hughton takes charge after spending last season without a club - although he was interviewed by Bristol City for their vacant head coach position during the summer, before Dean Holden was eventually appointed as the successor to Lee Johnson.

Lamouchi took over at the Reds in 2019 and led them to a play-off challenge last season, but after 13 signings in the summer and aending 2019/20 in poor form, he has become the first Championship manager to be sacked this season.

And Lamouchi’s last game in charge proved to be a 1-2 defeat at home to Bristol City on Saturday, after Forest went 2-0 down before pulling a goal back through Luke Freeman.

Despite having 20 shots on goal in comparison to league leaders Bristol City’s seven, Forest were unable to force an equaliser, with 14 of their shots falling off target.

A statement on Forest’s website confirmed Lamouchi had been sacked and that Hughton takes over immediately.

“Nottingham Forest can confirm that the contract of head coach Sabri Lamouchi has been terminated with immediate effect.”

And plenty of Bristol City fans have taken to social media to give their view on the man who might have been boss at Ashton Gate.

Here's a selection of the best that we've spotted:

Keith: This could be interesting.

Tony: I think Hughton will do well at Forest. Not only do they have a good squad but their focus has been a strong defence (not worked this season!) & that's how CH seems to prefer to operate.

Tom: Dodgy move for him

Oli: Passed the wonderful human being test at Forest then

Biff: Holden v Hughton - who will finish higher?

Chris: Thought Lee Johnson might go there

Ian: Their process took approximately six weeks less than ours.

Joe: Certainly a statement of intent.

JB: Glad we played them before tbf

Tommy: Deano>

Jamie: Got nothing on Dean Holden and his tricky reds tho

Gabriel: Chris who?
