Bristol City fan says 'dodgy' KFC burger 'ruined' win against Huddersfield

A Bristol City fan has claimed she developed food poisoning after eating a "dodgy" burger from KFC.

Jade White said she ate a fillet burger at the Winterstoke Road branch of the fast food chain before watching her team defeat Huddersfield 5-2 at the nearby Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday afternoon (December 30).

After the full-time whistle blew, Jade and her partner Dale headed back to their home in Knowle West and that's when she started to feel unwell, she said.

"I had a really bad tummy in the car after the game and then when we got home I was sick," said the 23-year-old.

"That KFC burger was the only thing I ate all day so it must have been that what caused it.

"I was up all night being sick and my belly still hurts badly today (Sunday, December 1). I've never had food poisoning before but people I know who have said it must be that.

"It's such a shame because I was so happy we won but then the food poisoning ruined it."

Jade said the burger tasted "dodgy" when she bit into it but she finished it because she was hungry and the 3pm kick off was approaching.

She added it's always busy in that KFC branch on match days but on Saturday it was particularly busy, claiming the restaurant was "massively short staffed".

It was also in a messy state, she said, with overflowing bins and rubbish on the tables.

"There was only one member of staff on the tills yesterday and people were rushing around in the kitchen," she said.

"I think that whoever made my burger didn't cook it properly because everyone was so busy."

Jade said she tried to contact the restaurant to complain when she felt better but couldn't get through to anyone at the branch.

A KFC spokesperson said: "We’re surprised by this as we’ve had no other similar complaints from our guests.

"However, we’d love to speak to Jade so we can look into it and put things right."
