Bristol City defender links up with former Bristol Rovers boss in League Two loan

Bristol City left-back Cameron Pring has left the Robins to join Walsall on loan for the season.

And Pring, 21, will join up with former Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke, who has taken over at the Bescot Stadium this summer.

As we reported earlier in the day, Bristol City had agreed a deal for Pring to go on loan for the season in League Two, now that Tommy Rowe has been signed to offer cover at left-back for Jay Dasilva.

And it is to the Saddlers he heads as the City academy graduate looks to develop his game following loans with Newport County and Cheltenham Town in the same division last season.

Pring is highly rated at Ashton Gate and impressed this time last year as the club headed to Marbella on tour.

Speaking to the official Walsall website, the defender gave his thoughts on the move.

"Game time is crucial at this stage of your career. I’m 21 so it’s the perfect time to head out on loan," he said.

"I am quick and like to get up and down the wing, attacking rather than just defending and sitting back. I would say I am a powerful presence."

Pring becomes the second young City starlet to tie up a temporary move elsewhere following James Morton joining Forest Green Rovers for the season.

Head of player loans Brian Tinnion has done further good work securing places at other clubs - and there are more to come.

Robins are tying up several loan deals before they head abroad to the US, and goalkeeper Max O'Leary is likely to be one following the recruitment of goalkeepers Rene Gilmartin and Daniel Bentley.
