Bristol City defender denies move to fellow Championship club is in the offing

Bristol City's Taylor Moore has scotched rumours that he could be set to join fellow Championship side Luton Town.

The versatile defender who spent all of last season on loan at Southend United took to Twitter to deny that he had spoken to fans in the pub about his immediate future.

Moore has recently been undertaking a 'TrainedBrain' course to help the mental side of being an athlete and to further unlock his potential, and speculation has seen the player linked with a return to the Shrimpers as well as elsewhere.

But the former England Under-20 international, who can play right-back and in the centre of defence, has played down talk of a move to the recently promoted Hatters, as he responded on social media.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a good season of development at Southend United and could be set for another loan move if head coach Lee Johnson does not deem he is ready to challenge for a first-team spot at Bristol City.

If that happens, there will not be a shortage of suitors, with Shrimpers boss Kevin Bond having already signalled his interest in Taylor returning to Roots Hall for the next campaign.

“Taylor would potentially be an option and he did well for us but his club at this moment in time appear to be keen on him to go back there,” Bond told the Basildon, Canvey and Southend Echo.

“I think what happens with clubs who are above us is that they like to have all their players back with them for pre-season."

The upcoming trip to Florida could be make or break for Moore, who began his career in France with Lens, and will look to make his mark on the Bristol City squad and potentially contest Lloyd Kelly's vacant spot in the squad with Zak Vyner.
