Bristol City defeat set to cost Sabri Lamouchi his job at Nottingham Forest

Sabri Lamouchi's time as Nottingham Forest will come to a close this week as owner Evangelos Marinakis has been left shocked by the club's start to the season.

The Mirror report that Lamouchi could be dismissed this week and a replacement identified over the international break following four consecutive defeats to start the 2020/21 Championship season.

The most recent arrived on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Dean Holden's Bristol City which has left Forest 22nd in the table, despite being considered among the promotion favourites.

Luke Freeman's strike against City was also their first goal of the season, only heightening discord among supporters.

Lamouchi's winless run stretches back to July 4 as Forest crumbled from appearing play-off certs to finish seventh after being pipped by Swansea on the final day of the season.

The fact that Lamouchi has been strongly backed in the transfer market with 13 new arrivals has made results harder to bear for Marinakis.

Before the game against the Robins on Saturday, Lamouchi had declared it a "must win", not just for the team but also himself.

The former Parma and Monaco midfielder has been linked with a job in Qatar at Al Duhail having previously worked in the Middle East from 2014-17, which could enable a natural parting of the ways.

City's next opponents Barnsley could also be without a manager in the coming days with Gerhard Struber strongly linked with the vacancy at New York Red Bulls.
