Bristol City dealt major blow ahead of Swansea City test as full injury list revealed

Bristol City will be without striker Benik Afobe for the Championship clash with Swansea City due to injury.

The Robins have a number of concerns ahead of the game against Steve Cooper's men at Ashton Gate.

And it's emerged that Afobe suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training this week, according to BristolLive.

The striker - currently on a season-long loan with Lee Johnson's side - was ineligible to face parent club Stoke City last time out.

The 26-year-old is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. He scored three goals in his six Championship appearances for the Robins.

Bristol City have other injury concerns too.

Tomas Kalas remains sidelined, with Johnson confirming the Czech Republic man is unavailable this weekend.

Adam Nagy - who is struggling with an ankle problem - will undergo a late fitness test while Bailey Wright is back in training, but the visit of Swansea is likely to come too soon for the Australia international.

Speaking about his selection dilemmas ahead of the Swansea game, Johnson commented: "We’ve got a lot of decisions. Callum (O'Dowda) signed his new contract, that changes the mindset a bit. The likes of Sammie Szmodics and (Pedro) Pereira have been excellent in training.

"The competition is strong. In training, people have been performing very, very well. The lads that are playing know they can’t rest on their laurels."

Around 2,300 fans will pack out the away end as Swansea look to get their campaign back on track after suffering their first loss of the season against Nottingham Forest last time out.

Kick-off at Ashton Gate is at 3pm on Saturday.
