Bristol City Council plans to build new block of flats for homeless people in Bedminster

Bristol City Council is set to house eight homeless people in Bedminster, if its proposals receive planning permission.

A three-storey building could be built at 96-98 West Street to create accommodation for rough sleepers.

The building that currently sits on the land, which is on the intersection of Clifton Road and West Street, would be knocked down to make room for the new housing.

The new block of flats would contain eight studio rooms, as well as a common room on the ground floor.

It is likely that the junction with Clifton Street would be closed to traffic for some time to allow for the prospective construction to take place, but the council says it will take "all possible measures" to prevent disruption to residents.

No parking will be provided for residents, but there would be bicycle storage inside the house.

A public consultation is currently taking place, which closes on October 31. You can take part by clicking here.

Nearby residents will be contacted with more information if the proposals receive planning permission.
