Bristol City confirm return of Jay Dasilva on permanent deal from Chelsea

Bristol City have announced the signing of Jay Dasilva from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

The Robins have finally struck in the transfer market as they announced a four-year deal for the new recruit from the Blues - their first senior signing of the window.

The 21-year-old returns to Ashton Gate after impressing on loan during the last campaign as Lee Johnson's team contested for a play-off spot until the final day of the season.

Dasilva made 32 appearances in all competitions for City in 2018/19.

Bristol City CEO Mark Ashton told the official club website: “We saw first-hand last season just how talented Jay is and he quickly earned the respect of the City supporters.

“His talents are clear for all to see and I am delighted we have been able to make Jay a permanent figure at this football club.

“He has all the attributes we’ve been looking for and he will continue to flourish in the set-up and style of football which Lee Johnson and his staff have implemented.”

Dasilva has recently been involved with the England U21s delaying the confirmation of any official move.

After playing for the Addicks on loan for the 2017/18 campaign, Dasilva went on to make 44 appearances as he helped Charlton Athletic reach the League One play-offs and earn the Fans’ Player of the Year award before a successful year in BS3 last campaign.
