Bristol City charged for players' conduct after Famara Diedhiou red card against Charlton Athletic

Bristol City have been slapped by another FA charge following the governing body announcing on Monday that the Robins had contravened rule E20.

City are said to have 'failed to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion' following Famara Diedhiou's red card issued in the 86th minute of the match against Lee Bowyer's side.

The Addicks have been hit by the same charge, as both teams came together following the incident late in the 2-1 victory.

The charge comes on the day that Lee Johnson is set be punished following allegedly 'using improper/insulting or abusive language towards an official' following the recent 3-0 loss to Luton Town. The head coach is not expected to contest the earlier disciplinary measure..

The full tweeted FA statement reads:

"Bristol City and Charlton Athletic have been charged for being in breach of FA Rule E20 following their EFL Championship fixture on Wednesday 23 October 2019.

"It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in or around the 86th minute of the fixture. Both clubs have until 18:00 on Wednesday 30 October 2019 to respond."

Johnson himself told Bristol Live of the incident that saw him punished for breaking Rule E3:

"It’s harsh, let me tell you. It’s for, well you saw what it was for, it says what it was for," he explained on Sunday.

"Well, it wasn’t that bad, if you’re talking about scaling it, it definitely didn’t question integrity. I’m a bit of a bird watcher so I shouted a name in mid-air that was potentially looking at a bird called a blue tit that was on top of the Luton stand and I think it got misconstrued that it was aimed at the referee."
