A Tesco Express was evacuated this afternoon (Tuesday, July 23) and firefighters called to the scene after a false alarm sounded in store.

One fire crew attended the scene however there was no blaze to be found at the scene and the alarm, which had sounded inside the shop, was found to have been triggered as a result of faulty apparatus.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "We were called shortly after 3.45pm, and one crew from Temple Fire Station attended the scene.

"After assessing the site, it was deemed to be a false alarm due to faulty apparatus."
