Bristol city centre in gridlock as 'emergency repairs' block roads

Large tailbacks are being seen across the city as planned road works have started.

The A4 Anchor Road has been closed for resurfacing meaning congestion is being felt from Bristol Hippodrome and stretching as far as Temple meads train station.

Described this morning as emergency repairs by highway officials, the scheduled works are taking place from the junction with Lime Kiln Road to Jacob Wells Road.

Congestion has been reported at St James  Barton  Roundabout.

Traffic is also slow on approaches including St Augustine's Parade, Rupert Street and Baldwin Street.
