Bristol City boss makes Eddie Nketiah transfer concession amid Aston Villa and Norwich links

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has admitted that a deal to sign Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal may have been complicated in recent days.

Nketiah has recently returned to Arsenal following a loan spell at Leeds United, where he scored five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions during the first half of the season.

But he has been strongly linked with another loan move, amid interest from Bristol City and other clubs.

The Championship side - who James Benge reported partly lost out in the summer because of their low chance creation rate - have been the favourites for his signature.

However, it has recently been reported that they now face competition from Premier League sides Aston Villa and Norwich City, who are both looking to add to their forward options amid the battle for survival in the top flight.

And Johnson has opened up on Bristol City's attempts to sign the Arsenal forward, and conceded that the deal may not be straightforward.

"I think he might have changed agent. Things like that can complicate it. Things like that can complicate any move," he said , speaking after Bristol City's 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

"But it happens a lot. It's not something that's out of the ordinary though."

Speaking on Friday, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta admitted that the Gunners were down to the 'final three' clubs for Nketiah, but insisted that no deal was likely to be done for the next few days.
