Bristol City boss Lee Johnson to talk with Arsenal legend Ian Wright after he advised Eddie Nketiah to go to Leeds United

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson says he will be meeting with Ian Wright at an upcoming under-23s match.

After Wright had advised Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to go to Leeds United rather than the Robins on loan in the summer, Johnson invited the legendary striker to visit City and find out what the club is about.

Wright was keen to make the visit and, whilst he has been unable to come down to Ashton Gate yet, Johnson says he will be in attendance when the Robins' under-23 side face Wright's former club Crystal Palace.

Johnson said: "He is coming to the Crystal Palace game so we've arranged that.

"Unfortunately, he couldn't make it the day before because he had prior arrangements but I think he was keen to come and watch us play.

"At that point, I'll definitely get him in the office and we'll have a little chat and hopefully sell him the dream as well, because if there's any future players that want to ask Ian Wright's opinion, it's important that he knows what we're about."

Wright has acted as a mentor to Nketiah and other young Arsenal players, meaning a link-up with City could bode well for taking future young stars on loan.

Twenty-year-old Nketiah spoke last month about what a big influence Wright has on his career.

He said: "I feel like in the last year or so he's started to communicate a lot more.

"He messages me, asks me how I am, how I'm finding things up in Leeds.

"'It's a dream come true to have one of your heroes speaking to you.

"It's about expressing myself and tips for being a striker.

"It's been like an arm round the shoulder, being nice and friendly, comforting me, seeing how things are going."
