Bristol City boosted as Leeds United's lengthy injury list grows ahead of season opener

Bristol City's opening weekend opponents have a fresh injury concern ahead of their visit to Ashton Gate .

Leeds United have already seen forward Kemar Roofe ruled out of the encounter with an ankle problem, while ex-Robins full-back Luke Ayling and winger Tyler Roberts face extended lay-offs.

Youngster Jamie Shackleton is also injured but may not have featured anyway.

Added to that, defender Gaetano Berardi is suspended following his reckless red card in the play-off semi-final against Derby County last season.

Now it has been revealed the Whites are sweating on the fitness of midfielder Adam Forshaw.

The former Middlesbrough man has impressed in pre-season, but apparently aggravated an injury in Leeds' final pre-season friendly against Cagliari on Saturday.

The game was his first appearance since sustaining a knock against Manchester United during United’s Australia tour.

Although the news has not been confirmed, Leeds Live report Forshaw "is expected to miss the trip down south".

Forshaw played on the right of an unconventional 3-3-1-3 formation in Sardinia at the weekend.

The Robins host Leeds at 4.30pm on Sunday, August 4.
