Bristol City battling Nottingham Forest for French teenage forward - reports

Having plucked Han-Noah Massengo from Monaco's academy last season, Bristol City are continuing to monitor the French market for talent and are keeping close tabs on Amiens forward Ulrick Eneme-Ella.

According to Goal France, Eneme-Ella is on the radar of at least two Championship clubs, identified as Nottingham Forest and Bristol City with French sides Strasbourg and Dijon also keen on him.

The 18-year-old has been capped for France from Under-16 to Under-19 level but is yet to make a first-team appearance for Amiens this season having arrived last summer from Austrian second division side Liefering.

Eneme-Ella can play as a central forward or on the wing, where he has started at youth level for his country.

City have expanded their recruitment operation significantly over the last 18 months and while Ligue 1 has always been targeted, with the arrivals of Famara Diedhiou and Jonathan Kodjia as evidence, the academy system is now also being considered.

Chairman Jon Lansdown admitted last week that City's recruitment this summer and beyond will continue to be driven by buying youth to develop.

"I think it's pretty clear in terms of what we do," he told The Robins Next podcast. "We like to produce our own players if we can and if not then we look to try and buy young players and develop them.

Lee Johnson's close connection with RB Leipzig head of recruitment Paul Mitchell could also come into the equation as Liefering are a feeder club for Red Bull Salzburg, all part of the same sporting group as the Bundesliga club.

Forest's interest in the French market is obvious given their head of international recruitment is former Marseille sporting director and manager Jose Anigo.
