Bristol City and Shrewsbury Town handed £150,000 boost ahead of Liverpool FA Cup tie

Bristol City and Shrewsbury Town have been given extra incentive in next week's FA Cup third round replay.

The two sides already know the winners of the match have a plum tie in the next round, hosting Liverpool at home, but it has also been chosen for TV coverage.

It means that, if the Robins beat Shrewsbury next week, they will net £150,000 in broadcast fees.

That is in addition to the £135,000 in third round prize money the winners of next week's replay will also receive.

The replay takes place on Tuesday at Shrewsbury's New Meadow ground following a 1-1 draw in the original tie last weekend.

City took the lead through Famara Diedhiou but, in a poor performance, were pegged back in the second half by their League One opponents, who came close to winning the game when they hit the post.

The winners of next week's replay will go on to face Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side, who currently sit top of the Premier League and appear to be cruising to the title.

BBC One will show the fourth round tie live on Sunday, January 26, with a 5pm kick-off.
