Bristol City and Leeds United handed transfer boosts as Swansea City deal for Liverpool striker stalls - report

Bristol City have been handed a potential transfer boost over the news that Rhian Brewster's loan move to Swansea City has stalled.

The Robins are one of a number of clubs to have shown interest in the Liverpool striker, but he looked set to move on loan to Swansea today, linking up again with his former England under-17s manager Steve Cooper.

Yet the Independent report that the deal has hit a late standstill over contract clauses.

The Swans had struck an agreement without a fee for Brewster, but the South Wales club seem unwilling to negotiate over personal elements of the transfer, such as goal bonuses.

According to the report, Swansea would only be willing to grant these contractual rewards should they receive promotion - an offer that has been rejected.

Bristol City are said to have been in contact with Brewster's representatives in the hopes of keeping a chance of a deal alive, although they face competition from Leeds United over a potential hijack of any loan.

The Robins are reportedly keeping their options open should they prove unable to land Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal following his recall from Leeds.

However, Brewster's personal preference for a loan move is still said to be Swansea.
