Bristol City and Cardiff City plot moves for Croatian striker - report

Bristol City have been linked with a move for in-form Croatian striker Petar Musa.

Football Insider report that the Robins, along with Cardiff City, are plotting January bids for the Sparta Prague forward, who is currently on loan at Slovan Liberec.

The 21-year-old has been in good form this season, scoring seven goals and grabbing two assists in the Czech First League - the highest tier in Czech football.

City are said to be aware of Musa's abilities and are eyeing a move for him before the end of January.

The Robins' efforts to sign a striker this month have currently gone unrewarded after they missed out on loan deals for both Rhian Brewster, who went to Swansea City, and Eddie Nketiah, who is staying at Arsenal.

Musa is not the first player from Europe that City have looked at this month, after they also scouted Andraz Sporar at Slovan Bratislava, but his €7m price tag was deemed too much of a risk.

Celtic also opted against making a move for Sporar, who is instead set to move to Portuguese side Sporting CP.

Whilst there are other players available in England, competition for a striker is incredibly high in the Championship this season.

Therefore, it would not be surprising if the Robins opt to look abroad for a more affordable option.

Slavia Prague are understood to be aware of the interest in Musa, and would be willing to recall him from his loan move if offered the right deal.

Musa is 6ft 2in and is said to have the right qualities to succeed in England, including a bit of pace about him.
