Bristol City and Brentford set to miss out as Wigan Athletic agree fee with Everton for full-back

Bristol City look set to miss out on Antonee Robinson.

The Robins were linked with a move for the Everton full-back at the end of last month, although they faced competition from Brentford and Wigan Athletic.

Now, the Liverpool Echo report that Wigan have won the race for the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

The defender has been unable to force his way into the first-team set-up at Goodison Park and found himself down the pecking order following Leighton Baines' new contract.

Wigan are believed to have agreed a £2m for Robinson, who has not travelled to Switzerland with the rest of the Toffees squad.

The Robins are on the lookout for a second left-back following the departure of Lloyd Kelly to Bournemouth.

Whilst they have signed Jay Dasilva from Chelsea, there is still space in the squad for a back-up option, especially with Cameron Pring having been sent out on a season-long loan to Walsall.
