Bristol Children Hospital nurse calls 'theft' of bike a 'kick in the teeth'

A Bristol nurse has said her bike was stolen in what she has described as a "kick in the teeth".

Abbie Fisher says she discovered her mountain bike was missing from outside her house on Glenside Campus on April 1.

The student nurse, who has been working at Bristol Children's Hospital for two years, says the bike was locked to her boyfriend's which was also stolen. Combined they are worth around £350.

"Most people working on the campus are health care professionals," said Abbie, aged 20. "It feels like quite a kick in the teeth when we are working really hard to help people.

"They might not have known what campus it was but it does make you feel under appreciated."

Since the coronavirus pandemic started, Abbie said she's noticed a huge drop in the number of people walking through the doors at the hospital's A&E department.

"People are staying away," said Abbie. "It's really interesting to see how few people have been coming in.

"Morale has been quite high. Everyone has enjoyed the claps for the NHS and we are all working together."

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
