One of the best-rated burger restaurants in Bristol has closed its Clifton branch due to a case of coronavirus.
A staff member at the Burger Joint has tested positive for COVID-19, and the site has shut down as a precaution while it is deep-cleaned.
The long-established restaurant on Whiteladies Road closed just before the weekend, but its sister site in Bedminster is unaffected and remains open.
A message was shared with customers on its social media platforms on Friday evening (June 4) announcing the news.
The post read: "Unfortunately a member of staff has tested positive for Covid 19.
"Because the health and safety of our staff and customers is the most important thing, it is with a very heavy heart that we must close until further notice."
Signed off from the team, the message clarified that its other site in North Street will continue running as normal.
As for the Clifton branch, the post continued: "We will announce on our socials when we are ready to reopen.
"As you would expect, this won’t be until the restaurant is thoroughly deep cleaned and all the staff have returned negative tests.
"We are already looking forward to reopening and are thankful for your understanding and support."
Bristol Live understands that the restaurant team was not directly instructed to close, but felt it was the most responsible course of action.
Coronavirus cases have been rising at a local level and nationally as the Delta variant, originally detected in India, spreads.
Across the UK yesterday (Saturday, June 5) a further 5,765 cases of coronavirus were recorded, although it is not clear how many of these were the variant of concern.
This covers the latest 24-hour period and of those cases, 35 were in Bristol.
