Bristol biker 'critical' after crash on Wiltshire-Gloucestershire border

A man from Bristol is in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital with life changing injuries in a crash on a B-road near the Wiltshire-South Gloucestershire border.

The man, who has not been named but is understood to be in his 60s, was riding a black Yamaha motorbike along the B4040 road between Malmesbury in Wiltshire and Chipping Sodbury in South Gloucestershire on Monday morning, when the crash happened.

His bike was involved in a collision with a grey Audi TT car being driven close to Hebden Farm in the village of Luckington, at around 11.30am.

The man driving the car and his passengers, all also from Bristol, were shaken but unhurt in the collision.

The biker was taken to Southmead Hospital by air ambulance with what police described as ‘life changing injuries’.

Now WIltshire police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone else who saw either the car or the motorbike travelling on the B4040 before the incident, to get in touch.

“The rider is currently in a critical but stable condition,” said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police. “The road was closed for most of the day and reopened at 8.20pm.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the car or bike beforehand to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 54210031542,” he said.

“If you have a dash cam and were in the area at the time, we would ask you to check the footage in case you have collected evidence which could be useful to our investigation,” he added.
