Bristol Bears star Callum Sheedy to start for Wales against Italy

Bristol Bears duo Callum Sheedy and Ioan Lloyd have been named in Wayne Pivac's final Wales side of the Autumn Nations Cup to face Italy in Llanelli on Saturday.

Callum Sheedy comes in to replace Dan Biggar at fly-half, partnering Kieran Hardy for the second time this campaign having started together in the 18-0 win against Georgia.

Saturday will be Sheedy's fourth cap for his country having made his debut earlier this Autumn against Ireland and come off the bench against England last week.

In midfield Johnny Williams partners George North. North’s last start at centre was Wales’ 42-0 victory over Italy in the Guinness Six Nations earlier this year.

Louis Rees-Zammit, Josh Adams and Liam Williams comprise the back-three with Bristol's Lloyd named on the bench, set to earn his second cap having been a replacement for the victory over Georgia.

Head coach Wayne Pivac said: “Saturday is another opportunity for these players and for us as a squad it is another opportunity to continue to build and to see the results of all the hard work in training.

“We have blooded eight new caps this campaign and importantly by the end of the match each of them would have had a number of appearances to their name.

“From the outset we wanted this campaign to be about giving players opportunity and we have done that.

“The hard work in training is coming through and we want to show that again on Saturday and finish the campaign on a high, with the performance and result we want.”
