Bristol Bears set for triple injury boost Pat Lam confirms

Bristol Bears are set to have three key men back and available for selection ahead of Friday night's showdown with Wasps Rugby, director of rugby Pat Lam has confirmed.

Lam was without 16 players for the trip to Sixways on Saturday in Round 12 of the Gallagher Premiership but his patched together side scored late in the day to comeback and beat Worcester Warriors 24-23 to stay six points clear at the top of the table.

And Lam hopes the worst of his squad's injury woes are now behind him.

He said: "We are hoping to have three players back next week.

"Maybe Nathan [Hughes] will be alright, Charles [Piutau] could be back next week as well and Bryan Bryne might be back so that will ease a bit of pressure.

"The we will have a couple more the week after, and certainly a few more the week after that with the Six Nations boys coming back so we will have a lot coming back over the next two or three weeks."

Number eight Hughes has been out after suffering a dead leg he picked up against Gloucester Rugby while hooker Bryne suffered a knee injury in the warm up in the same match.

Full back Charles Piutau was rested this weekend as precaution having played seven games on the bounce since returning to the fold on New Years' Day following nearly four months on the sidelines with an Achilles issue.

Flanker Dan Thomas, who was not named in the matchday 23 to face Worcester, is fit and took part in the warm-up at Sixways but was rested for the game having played 10 league games this season already.

Bristol Bears current official unavailable list is:

Harry Thacker [neck]

Bryan Byrne [knee]

Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro [calf]

James Dun

Nathan Hughes [leg],

Harry Randall [ankle]

Chris Cook [calf]

Ioan Lloyd [leg]
