Bristol bar opening one minute after midnight for 'post lockdown party'

A Bristol bar will reopen its indoor space one minute after lockdown rules ease.

Antix, on Park Street, says on an advertising board outside the venue it will be opening at 12.01am on May 17.

The bar bills itself on its website as a "contemporary bar" with "club music playing late into the night" . Its advertisement ahead of reopening reads: "We can't wait another day! We've missed you!"

A Facebook post on Anix's page says the event will be a "post lockdown party". You could book a table by emailing bookings@barantix.com, though the venue may now be fully booked.

When pubs and restaurants open indoors on May 17, it will be for table service only. Customers will not be able to order from the bar.

Drinkers and diners must comply with stricter coronavirus test and trace rules. Previously only one person from each group had to register their attendance on the NHS Covid app, but now all customers must check in.

This allows the NHS to contact anyone who may have been in contact with someone infected with the virus.

People will also be able to meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors, while six people or two households can meet indoors. Overnight stays are permitted.

Social distancing guidance is also changing. Contact with close family and friends is "a matter of personal judgement", says the Government, though people are asked to remain cautious about who they hug, considering things like whether others have been vaccinated.
