Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2019: Met Office forecasts 'spells of heavy rain'

Bristol Balloon Fiesta returns in less than two weeks and the Met Office says the occasional spell of heavy rain could be possible.

The fiesta will return to its home of  Ashton Court Estate from August 8-11  for its 41st year.

During the festival next week, thousands of people will visit Ashton Court to witness  mass ascents, night glows and free entertainment .

According to a long-range forecast by the Met Office however, those attending the event should prepare for some wet weather.

A forecaster for the weather agency says: "Into next week, low pressure looks likely to be located just to the west of the UK, which would bring a west to southwesterly flow across the majority of the UK.

"This pattern would bring occasional spells of rain, which could be heavy at times, especially across western parts, with daytime showers breaking out elsewhere.

"Temperatures will mostly be above average, with warm or very warm conditions possible across the south."

People living close to the Ashton Court Estate have also been warned to expect travel delays and road closures during the week of the event, which you can read about here.
