Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2019: Latest Met Office and BBC Bristol weather forecasts look wet and windy

There's just a week to go until the Bristol Balloon Fiesta gets underway but there's a possibility it could be a washout.

The fiesta will return to its home of Ashton Court Estate from August 8-11 for its 41st year.

During the festival next week, thousands of people will hope to witness mass ascents, night glows and free entertainment .

According to a long-range forecast by the Met Office however, those attending the highly-anticipated event could be in for the odd spell of rain.

A forecaster for the weather agency says: "Through the rest of the week, low pressure is likely to be located just to the west of the UK. This would bring west to southwesterly winds across the majority of the UK.

"This pattern would bring occasional spells of rain, which could be heavy at times, into western parts, with daytime showers breaking out more generally elsewhere.

"Temperatures will mostly be around average, but if winds become more southerly at times then some warm or very warm weather may develop across the south."

Day-by-day forecast from BBC

Thursday August 8 - Light rain and a moderate breeze, highs of 21 C and lows of 15C

Friday August 9 - Light rain and a gentle breeze, highs of 21C and lows of 15C

Saturday August 10 - Light rain and a moderate breeze, highs of 21C and lows of 15C

Sunday August 11 - Thundery showers and a moderate breeze, highs of 21C and lows of 14C

People living close to the Ashton Court Estate have also been warned to expect travel delays and road closures during the week of the event, which you can read about here .
